Abigail Ann Meinke, daughter of Jeff and Kristi Meinke, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. She is a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Norfolk.
Abby was active in volleyball and basketball for three seasons, and she was a four year member of the track and field squad. Abby was a three time state qualifier going into her senior season. Last year, she claimed the 8th place spot in the shot put at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships. In addition, Abby has been a four year member of the cheerleading squad. She was nominated and selected to the All American team during the summer leading into her senior season of cheer.
Aside from athletics, Abby participated in one act play production, FCCLA, and mock trial during all four years of high school. In mock trial this past fall, she was a captain for the team. She was a two year member of the speech team and has served the past two years as a Trailblazer. In addition, Abby is a member of the National Honor Society and has been selected as Student of the Month on multiple occasions.
Outside of school, Abby enjoys watching movies, listening to music, and playing with her animals. She holds a part-time job at Goody’s Grill, a position she has held for over two years.
Abby listed her favorite class as Spanish and her favorite teacher as Mrs. Angela Gray, stating, “She was easy to talk to and always showed that she cared. She was always willing to go out of her way to help students.” When asked to name a fondest memory from her time at BCHS, Abby mentioned cheering on Friday nights. She went on to state, “There is something special about our community coming together, and it is so much fun being able to lead while cheering on our favorite boys.”
After graduation, Abby plans to attend either the University of Nebraska at Kearney or Nebraska Wesleyan University. She is, at this time, undecided between careers in nursing or elementary education.
Best wishes, Abby!
