Suzanne Brungardt Uhlir’s athletic dominance radiated during her years as a Bravette, where she was a three-sport athlete who excelled in volleyball and basketball. Suzanne’s standout high school career was highlighted by her role in securing four consecutive state championships in basketball. She accumulated 1,250 career points en route to being named All-State three years, Super State Team her senior year, and was an Omaha World Herald Athlete of the Year finalist in 1987. In addition to her basketball success, Suzanne was a key player on the volleyball team. Her remarkable high school career earned her numerous accolades, including All-State three years, and set the stage for her continued success at Illinois State University. At Illinois State, Suzanne was a 4-year letterwinner as a middle blocker/right side hitter and was named All-Conference First Team in 1990. Suzanne Brungardt Uhlir’s legacy is one of excellence and outstanding athletic achievement, solidifying her reputation as one of the greatest Bravettes to sport the Purple and Gold. In addition, Suzanne has always felt incredibly blessed to have had a community that supported and encouraged her every step of the way.
