Wayne Schulz ('68)
Class of 2024
Athlete

Many country kids have had a great impact on Battle Creek sports through the years. But very few can compare themselves to Wayne Schulz. Wayne stands as a beacon of athletic excellence from the late 60s. A versatile and dynamic athlete, Wayne excelled in football and track and field, leaving an indelible mark on the school's sports legacy. As a lineman in football, he punished opponents in the trenches, earning All-State honors his senior year. Wayne is also a member of the Siouxland Football Hall of Fame. His physical prowess on the football field was matched by his all-around athleticism in track and field. Wayne's presence in shot put and discus set him apart as a force to be reckoned with. He clinched state championships in both events in 1968, broke the Class C state shot put record, and broke the school’s shot put record as well, which stood for nearly two decades. Wayne has always been proud to represent Battle Creek. And although many years have passed, he is still so grateful for the recognition and support he received from his coaches, teammates, and classmates. Wayne Schulz's high school athletic career set a high standard for future generations, embodying the spirit of dedication, leadership, and excellence.
