Congrats to seniors Ty Heimes and Caydon McCracken who were named 2019 Male Athletes of the Year at the Battle Creek Athletic Banquet held on Friday night.
Ty has been a three sport athlete throughout high school, playing football and golf as well as competing in wrestling during all four years of high school. For his efforts on the gridiron, Ty was named to the All State Honorable Mention list. He was selected for the Northeast Nebraska All Star Football Classic to be held this summer. He was a record-breaker in wrestling and holds the top spot for season wins with 51, and he was named to the All State list for his efforts on the mat this past winter. Ty was selected to compete in this summer's Northeast Nebraska All Star Wrestling Classic. He also received his 10 Letter Award at Friday night's banquet, a testament to his work ethic and dedication to Battle Creek Athletics.
Caydon also has been a three sport athlete throughout high school, playing football and golf as well as competing in wrestling during all four years of high school. He received a Scholar Athlete Award on Friday night, an honor given to three sport athletes who maintain a 3.3 grade point average. Caydon was named to the Academic All State list for all three of his sports. In wrestling, Caydon was a record breaker over his career; in fact, athletic director Cody Wintz listed eight records Caydon broke this past wrestling season: Career Wins with 184, Career Pins with 114, Career 2 Point Nearfalls with 102, Career 3 Point Nearfalls with 116, Career Team Points with 1,216, Career Match Points with 1,418, and Career Tournament Championships with 30. Caydon was named to the All State list for his efforts on the mat this past winter, and he was selected to compete in this summer's Northeast Nebraska All Star Wrestling Classic. Ty is the son of Jeff and Jennifer Heimes, while Caydon is the son of Adam and Jacki McCracken of Battle Creek.
