Happy Friday everyone!
In the spirit of October, which is bullying prevention month, it is relevant to share some of the great things BCPS does to promote kindness and cohesiveness amongst our students. PBiS, which most of you know as being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful is incorporated throughout the elementary school and reinforced through monthly missions. PBiS is a proven strategy to create and maintain a positive school culture. In junior high, students learn 8 to Great skills that help them build upon the PBiS in elementary. The 8 to Great steps are focused on empowering growth and igniting greatness across the spectrum. It is personal development driven by the core values of empowerment, resilience, and purpose. In addition to the 8 to Great, Blaze Days have been a longstanding activity for students in grades 7-12. These days are organized to strengthen relationships between classmates, allowing them to gain a deeper appreciation of each other's individual interests and passions. They also allow classmates to engage in some fun activities outside the classroom. These are examples of how BCPS invests in the wellbeing of our students and our efforts to create a culture of excellence. There is not one BCPS student who deserves to be treated badly, whether in person or online. Being kind and respectful to others, no matter who they are, creates a safer and more positive environment for everyone.
Happy Friday!!
