
Great job to the track teams today at the BC Invite! Both the girls and boys were team champs! Fun to watch so many great performances and photo-finishes. Congrats again to Renee Brummels for breaking the 36-year old long jump record previously held by Linda Schnitzler! 🏆🥇💜

Alli Kay Petersen, daughter of Jenn Petersen and Tyler Schmidt and Grant and Staci Hurlbert, attended school in Winside, Randolph, and Norfolk before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools in eighth grade.
While in high school, Alli was active in one act play production and FCCLA for three years, she was in speech and cheerleading for two, and she has been a member of FFA this year as a senior. Alli has been chosen as Student of the Month and she earned a letter for her efforts as a cheerleader. When asked to name a favorite teacher, Alli listed Mrs. Stephanie Nelson, stating, “She is a very fun teacher, and I am able to talk to her about anything.”
Outside of school, Alli has participated in 4-H where she was a Reserve Champ twice for showing goats. In her free time, Alli likes to listen to music and hang out with her friends.
After graduation, Alli plans to attend Northeast Community College to earn an associate’s degree in veterinary technology.

CONCERT CHANGE


Congratulations to Battle Creek's March Students of the month. Keep up the great work.

Emma Constance Wilkinson, daughter of Michael and Teresa Wilkinson, attended Andover Elementary School in Orlando, Florida, before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools in the first grade. She is a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Battle Creek.
Emma was active in golf, mock trial, speech, choir, and band during all four years of high school. In choir, she served as president for three years and was named Choir Student of the Year in 2019-2020. As a member of the band, Emma was a student director for three years. In mock trial, Emma served as a captain, and she was a senior officer in speech this past year. Emma culminated her speech career by qualifying for the state meet in extemporaneous speaking.
In addition, Emma was a cheerleader for three years and participated in quiz bowl for two. She participated in one act play production and FCCLA for one year.
Outside of school, Emma serves at her church as a CCD teacher and a co-worship leader. She also plays softball during the summer months.
When asked to name her favorite teacher at BCHS, Emma listed two: Ms. Laura Johns and Mr. Ryan Heller.
After graduation, Emma plans to attend Wayne State College to study criminal justice as a part of the Rural Law Opportunities Program. She hopes to one day go to law school and become a practicing attorney.

Mikayla Rae Miller, daughter of Tim and Janet Miller, attended Norfolk Catholic Elementary School through her fifth grade year. She then transferred to the Battle Creek Public Schools where she remained for the rest of her educational journey. She is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Norfolk.
During all four years of high school, Mikayla was active in speech, cheerleading, mock trial, and one act play production where she served as a crew member. In addition, she played volleyball for three seasons and ran track for two. She was a member of FCCLA for three years and was in dance and National Honor Society for two years. Mikayla played in the band from fifth grade through her junior year.
Mikayla served as a cheer captain during both her junior and senior seasons and was captain of the mock trial squad this past year. She served as an officer in both speech and drama as well as FCCLA and was a class officer during her freshman, sophomore and junior years of high school.
When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Mikayla listed Mrs. Leigha Kern, stating, “She cares about what we wanted to learn and how we were doing. She encouraged discussion within class and wanted to help build a bond among our class.” When asked to name a favorite subject in school, Mikayla listed English.
Outside of school, Mikayla plays softball and participates in Bible study, discipleship group, and the SPARK Council. She also enjoys embroidery. Mikayla has been employed at Jimmy Johns since August of 2020 and has been a nanny since September of 2020.
After graduation, Mikayla plans to attend Benedictine College to study elementary education and evangelization.

Varsity track meet at Hartington Cedar Catholic has been moved to Monday, March 29th at 1:00pm.

The Battle Creek Alumni Banquet has been postponed until July 2022 at Divots DeVent Center due to the uncertainty of the pandemic and most people not able to travel or gather.
