Jeston David Hassler, son of Chris and Melinda Hassler, attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Battle Creek before coming over to Battle Creek High School. He is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Jeston was active in wrestling throughout junior high and then again as a senior. He also participated in golf for two seasons. Aside from athletics, Jeston was a member of one act play production for four years and speech for three. He has been a part of the band since fifth grade. In band, Jeston served as vice president during his junior year and president this past year. Outside of school, Jeston likes to spend his free time fishing, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. He has been employed at Goody’s Grille for three years. When asked to name a fondest memory of his time at BCHS, Jeston mentioned that “being in the student section at football and basketball games” was what he enjoyed most. After graduation, Jeston plans to serve in the South Dakota National Guard, and he will attend South Dakota State University where he plans to study Fisheries and Wildlife. Best wishes, Jeston!

Tristan Scott Korth, son of Chad and Tara Korth, attended Christ Lutheran in Norfolk before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of his education. Tristin was active in football during all four years of high school, and he wrestled for one season. When asked to name his favorite teacher from his time at BCHS, Tristin mentioned former science teacher Mr.Tucker Teijkl who left Battle Creek to enter administration. Outside of school, Tristin likes to spend his free time hunting and working on his family’s ranch out west. After graduation, he plans to attend Northeast Community College. Best wishes, Tristan!

Kalina Liouse Elizabeth Mieure, daughter of Jamie and Terry Mieure, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. She is a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Kalina participated in speech for two years and FCCLA for one. When asked to list a favorite memory from her time at BCHS, she mentioned that at a speech meet, she and a friend competed to see who could say hello to the most people. Besides her own activities, Kalina has enjoyed attending sporting events and cheering on the Braves. Outside of school, she enjoys walking her dogs, working cattle, and getting coffee with her mom. Kalina also likes to babysit and spend time with her family. When asked to name a favorite class, Kalina listed her English class taught by Mrs. Janet Miller. Kalina greatly appreciated Mrs. Miller’s instruction, stating “[She] taught me so many things that I need to know in the future.” After graduation, Kalina plans to attend Northeast Community College to study to become a CNA. Tayce Lynn Bleich, daughter of Justin and Rachelle Bleich, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. She is a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Battle Creek. Tayce was active in volleyball and track during all four years of high school. She played basketball for two seasons and wrestled this past year as a senior, where she finished in sixth place at the girls’ state meet. Tayce mentioned that one of the things she was most proud of was that she was able to maintain a 3.7 GPA while being a three sport athlete. Aside from athletics, Tayce was a member of FCCLA and the dance team during all four years of high school. In dance, she served as co-captain as a junior and again as a senior. She participated in one act play production for two years. When asked to list a favorite staff member at BCHS, Tayce mentioned Mrs. Kristin Colvey, stating, “She was super chill and fun to talk to.” Tayce named weight lifting as her favorite elective in school because it made her stronger for sports. Outside of school, Tayce enjoys playing softball in the summer, spending time with her friends, and shopping. After high school, Tayce plans to attend Northeast Community College to earn an associate’s degree in business. Best wishes, Tayce!

Reagan Marie Praeuner, daughter of Robert and Kally Praeuner, attended St. John’s Lutheran School through fifth grade year before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of her education. She is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. Reagan was active in basketball for three seasons, and she was on the one act play production crew and a member of FCCLA during all four years. When asked to name a favorite instructor at BCHS, Reagan mentioned two: Mrs. Kristin Colvey and Mrs. Leigha Kern. Outside of school, Reagan has played softball for Battle Creek since she was little, and she enjoys spending time with friends and her nieces. Jenna Isabel Ruge, daughter of Hans and Karen Ruge, attended St. John Lutheran School for grades preschool through eighth grade. She came to Battle Creek High School as a freshman. Jenna is a member of both St. John Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and First Christian Church of Norfolk. Jenna participated in One Act Play Production and FCCLA for three years. She was a cheerleader for two years and a member of FFA as a senior, where she served as FFA secretary. Jenna received awards for both land and livestock judging in the organization. She also received a letter in cheer and was a Student of the Month honoree. When asked to name a favorite teacher, Jenna listed Mrs. Jenni Frey, saying, “Mrs. Frey is just so kind to everyone, and she gives you candy.” Jenna’s favorite memory from her time at Battle Creek High School is playing bingo in Mrs. Frey’s Spanish class. Her favorite subject in school is math because she enjoys the challenge. Outside of school, Jenna is active in 4-H, where she has received many awards. In addition, she enjoys scrapbooking and hanging out with her friends. Jenna also holds a job at Amen 4 Kids Daycare. Jenna wanted to thank her family for getting her to where she is today and for always supporting her. After graduation, Jenna plans to attend Northeast Community College to study nursing. Elly Jo Kurpgeweit, daughter of Shannon and Sarah Kurpgeweit, attended Battle Creek Public Schools for all thirteen years of her education. Elly was a member of the speech team for two seasons, and she has been a member of FFA this past year, where she has served as an officer. She qualified for State FFA in the category of livestock judging. In addition, Elly played volleyball for one season. When asked to name a favorite staff member at BCHS, Elly listed Mrs. Stephanie Nelson, stating, “She is a fun teacher who has been there for me to talk to as a friend. She has also helped me develop my art skills.” Elly listed art as her favorite class. Outside of school, Elly is active in 4-H, which she has been taking part in for the past eight years. She also enjoys riding dirt bikes, riding four wheelers, and working on her family farm. She has been a sales associate at Renegade for the past three years. Gabriel Richard Hoffmeyer, son of Ross and Kristin Hoffmeyer, attended Riverdale Elementary in Kearney and Washington Elementary in Norfolk before coming to the Battle Creek Public Schools in fifth grade. Gabe participated in football and golf during all four years of high school and was a member of the FFA this past year. He has been a Student of the Month honoree and has earned all A’s in algebra. Hannah Rae Tillman, daughter of Sarah and Joshua Tillman, attended Anthon Oto Community Schools in Iowa before coming to St. John's Lutheran School in 4th grade. She remained at St. John’s through 7th grade and joined Battle Creek Public Schools for the remainder of her education. Hannah is a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. During high school, Hannah was involved in one act play production, speech, and track for two years each, and she was on the dance and cheer teams during all four years. Hannah served as a cheer co-captain this past year. When asked to list a favorite teacher, Hannah mentioned Mrs. Leigha Kern, stating, “She has always inspired me to work hard and to do my best.” Hannah listed Spanish as her favorite subject in school. Outside of school, Hannah likes to hang out with her friends. When she's not with friends, she spends her time babysitting and volunteering in the community. She recently started working at In His Arms Childcare in Battle Creek.
